Welcome to yet another intriguing episode of Question and Answer on soka25east with me James Sibeleki.Today we talk to Prince Cephas Mutambo an enthusiastic Zesco United fan.A very warm welcome to you Prince.
Prince: Pressure is mine to be on the set.
soka25east:This weekend, the rivalry between your team Zesco United and Power dynamos will be renewed.Do you think this mammoth encounter comes is coming fast considering it’s your first game of the season and You lost to them earlier this year in the shield?
Prince: The technical bench and the players knows what is at stake and we the fans believe in winning. But it’s not easy because every club in Zambia want to prove a point by beating Zesco.I can say the game with Power dynamos has come faster but as you know we are in CAF Champions league and will use this game to prepare for our fixiture in Mali.I can say we are ready for them and we are ready to defend our title.
soka25east: Interesting, talking about CAF Champions league.Zesco United cross swords with Stade Malien of Mali who have been doing well, reaching the group stages and have beaten African giants like TP Mazembe. How well do you know about them?
Prince: Stade Malien are a very strong side and the technical bench is aware of that thus they are preparing for them accordingly.I know they have beaten big names like TP Mazembe but Zesco can pull a surprise. We have a good coach in George Lwandamina to take us to the group stages like Fighton Simukonda did in 2009.We also have experienced players like Jacob Banda.
soka25east: That’s right.Do you think national team duty affecting George Lwandamina’s commitments to the club?
Prince: I won’t comment on ths one. It’s being sorted by the administration and I think he is committed to both.
soka25east: We respect understand.Let’s talk about some new signings like Jesse Were from Kenya. He was KPL top scorer.Of late foreign strikers have failed to leave a mark in Zambia super league.Archbong Utibe left Zanaco afte failing at Zanaco.Tony Odour and Jacob Keli failed to impress at Nkana. In your own opinion, can Were emulate his KPL form at Zesco?
Prince: It take a time for some players to settle at foreign clubs like Zesco but with comment he can archive alot. The Kenyan Premier league is strong with good sponsership and the Zambia Super league is different.I’m looking forward to see what he’s going to offer because he’s enjoying game time. The other advantage is his countrymen Calabar Owino and Teddy Akumu who have helped him to fell at home.
soka25east: Finally, how far can Zesco go in CAF Champions league?
Prince:I see them going beyond the group stages, reaching the semi finals.
soka25east: We grateful for your time Prince and hoping to interact with you again. That’s all we had for you our dear readers across the globe. From me the host of this segment James Sibeleki it’s bye bye!
