Newly crowned Ugandan player of the year Muhammed Shaban has expressed his delight and surprise at being Crowned Uganda’s finest after beating stiff competition from compatriots Denis Onyango, Farouk Miya and Joseph Ochaya.

“I am happy, I feel very happy and excited because I did not expect to win the award.”

Speaking exclusively to Soka25east.com, the Uganda Cranes international and Onduparaka fc captain attributed his win to his fans for their overwhelming support and Uganda national team head coach Milutin Micho Sredovic for his encouragement.

” I want to thank of course my fans, teammates and not forgetting the national team head coach for encouraging me.”

The 19 year old talisman now shifts his focus to his club and country as he hopes to make the list to the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.

“Inshallah through hardwork I will be there. I want to make sure that I make my country happy and also my team happy as well by hitting the back of the net.”

Muhammed Shaban is currently a joint top scorer in the Azam Uganda Premier league with 7 goals.
