The Dar es salaam derby  today ended in Simba’s favour  but the first derby loss for George Lwandamina in seven years .

The msimbazi giants who are the league leaders came from a goal down despite the being a goal down .

Yanga opened the score sheet in the 5th minute when Simon Msuva slotted home from the spot  with the gaol disorienting Simba who had to take time to adjust .

Simba came  close to scoring but wasted chances  with  defender Novat Lufunga finding   it hard to contain the threats posed by yanga fowards and was on several occasions caught offside

In the 32 nd minute Mohammed Ibrahim also known as MO  dodged himself in the danger zone but failed to go past Juma Abdul in what could have been an equalizer for Simba

Later on in the 38th minute Ibrahim Ajibu’s long range effort went over the bar as fans kept  urging Simba to get the needed equalizer

Simba had  another effort  from Laudit Mavugo but the Burundian slashed the ball outside for a goal kick

Simba quickly regrouprd  again and piled another pressure but the Young Africans defenders thwarted their efforts

A 44th minute  foul outside the box on Mohammed Ibrahim with Simba players calling for a penalty  saw centre referee Mathew Akrama award a free kick .

The first half ended Yanga leading 1-0

Second half started with Simba coming up strongly and Ibrahim Ajibu’s shot went  straight to the hands of keeper Deogratius Munishi in the first attempt

Laudit Mavugo was  ruled offside after finding himself past the Young Africans defense

Pressure piled by Simba  later made  them hungrier in goal and looked the better side in the first opening minutes of the second half

Coach Joseph Omog brought  on Shiza Kichuya for Novat Lufunga in the 51st minute

Mwinyi Haji orchestrated a fine run on the left flank but his resultant free kick  was parried away by Daniel Agyei in Simba goal

Red card to Janvier Bukungu after a dangerous tackle just outside the danger area  disoruented the host and this called for tactical approach from the Cameroonian

Burundian Laudit Mavugo headed into the net to level matters sending the crowd into frenzy .

 

With the equalizer Simba seemed to have gotten a lifeline  and the  moment of applause and chants came when substitute Shiza Kichuya terrific shot went straight to the left side of the goal for the second 

 

Laudit Mavugo could have sealed the victory when he dodged himself past Yanga defenders only to hit the crossbar with the keeper to beat

The last five minutes of the match was a pull and push from both sides with Yanga who thought they had won the game desperately searching for an equalizer
The win cements Simba’s position at the top and on course for title
