The first round of the FAZ/MTN Super Division has produced goals in abundance with a total of 276 goals scored as of week 17.
We look at the best and worst performing teams so far.
TOP PERFORMERS
1. ZANACO FC
Zanaco Football Club are at number one scoring 35 goals in the process. They have gained the most points as well having earned 40 points from a possible 51. The Bankers have conceded only six goals so far making them the joint strongest defense with Zesco United.
This comes as no surprise because Numba Mumamba’s team have only record one loss which came at Forest Rangers. They have a healthy goal difference of plus 29.
2. ZESCO UNITED
Zesco United are the second best performers so far. They can also collected 40 points should they win their games in hand. They have scored 24 goals so far conceding 6 with a goal difference of plus 18. Team ya Ziko have collected 31 points from a possible 39 points with only one loss.
3. NKANA FC
Despite suffering a string of losses in recent weeks Nkana are our third best performing team. They have scored 27 goals allowing 17, giving them a goal difference of plus 10 ultimately giving them 31 points.
Aba Red have suffered 4 defeats since the League started and they need to start winning matches if they are to contend for the title.
4. POWER DYNAMOS
The fourth best performing team is Power Dynamos. They have netted 21 goals allowing 12 giving them a goal difference of 9 with a total of 5 defeats.
5. GREEN BUFFALOES
The holders of the Barclays Cup have scored 17 goals, allowed 12 with a goal difference of plus 5.
Buffaloes lie in fifth position on 28 points with 16 games played.
6. KABWE WARRIORS
The Magnificent people’s team have earned themselves a spot in the Barclays Cup after a 1-0 away at Nchanga Rangers in week 17. They have scored 18 goals allowing 15 with a goal difference of 3. They have collected 26 points so far.
WORST PERFORMERS
The least performing team this season is Mufulira Blackpool who have not won a single match so far. They have lost 11 games drawing 6 scoring 5 goals allowing 32 goals in the process.
TOP SCORERS
Zesco United’s Jesse Were is still leading the race for the golden boot award. The Kenyan International’s goals seemed to have dried up but he found his scoring boots to increase his tally to 11 goals.
He is followed by Nkana’s Walter Bwalya who seems to have also misplaced his scoring boots on 9 goals.
Zanaco hitman Fashion Sakala has 7 goals while Steward Chikandiwa and Justin Shonga both from Nkwazi have 6 goals.
Josphat Kasusu of Kabwe Warriors is also on 6 goals while Felix Nyaende of Forest Rangers and Jacob Phiri of Kabwe Warriors have 5 goals apiece.
