Unique Global FC redefining the development of Football in Africa
Unique Global FC is the first private-sector led football club in The Gambia. It was Formerly known as Toubabo FC and then PSV Wellingara. Unique Global fooball clubs’ early history was rooted in the local Nawettan competitions.
Through growth and team-work, the football team gained promotion to the third division league, then to the second division in 2015.Over the years the club secured promotion to top flight football (GFF First Division League) on two previous occasions, albeit, currently pursuing promotion to the first division football league by playing in the second division league tier.

The current owners and management of Unique Global FC strongly align with the belief that with strategic investments in sports infrastructure, education, and sports skills development, a high sense of commitment for talent development and management through its first class football academy, the Football Club would reach the heights of its full potential changing the lives of young people along the way, harnessing their raw talent into lifelong skills for them to become truly global citizens leaving legacies for generations to come
The Board of Directors oversee the overall operations of the Football Club led by President Papa Yusupha Njie who is CEO of Unique Group, Saul Frazepr (Vice President), Baboucarr Camara, Secretary General, Lamin Manga, Director.

Achievements
The Club has won several community football Nawettan league titles and in 2015 it won the Third Division League title of the Kanifing Municipality regional league, thereby winning promotion to the second division. Champions of the 2021/22 Second Division LeaguePromoted to First Division for first time in 2018 / 19 season.
The club has a team of qualified Technical bench led by Head Coach IBRA JAGNE assisted by CHERNO BADJIE.

Building Global Partnerships through Football
In 2025, the club signed a landmark partnership with ECA Elite Coaching Academy, one of London’s leadingacademies with an impressive record of 39 signings with different professional clubs. This strategic collaboration is designed to identify and nurture talented young players, providing them withworld class training and development opportunities.
A successful scouting and CPD event was held in January 2025 where over 200 young footballers from the Gambia, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire where given a chance to show their skills under the watchful eyes of the ECA team comprising of, Ngandu Jason Ngandu (Head of National Recruitment – Portsmouth FC), Adeyinka Adeniran (Head of Recruitment – Millwall FC), Yannick Salem (Former Player – De Graafschap, Stockport County), Edi Sallah (Assistant Head of Academy Recruitment – Portsmouth Utd FC), Pa Modou Jagne – Former Captain Gambia National Team)
A CPD course attended by a cross section of Gambian male and female coaches across the various Gambia Football Federation leagues was successfully run by the ECA team with input from,nColin Barnes (Head of National Recruitment – Crystal Palace FC), Daniel Laurent (Head of South UK Recruitment – Newcastle Utd FC), Jack Thorpe (Head of Academy Recruitment – Cambridge Utd FC. Through this partnership, three of th clubs talented players, Abdoulie Danso, Modou Lamin Bojang and Ousman Jammeh, were given the incredible opportunity to participate in a 2 week trial in Turkey through ECA EliteCoaching Academy . This experience has been invaluable for the club’s young athletes, exposing them to top notchcoaching, first class sporting facilities, and great competition on a global platform.
A similar arrangement in 2025 was also signed with PSG academy PRO in Senegal where Unique Global has three of their young academy players, currently developing at the PSG academy with view to turning professional when they turn 18. The partnership also allows UGFC to benefit from the expertise and experience of the PSG academy brand in building first class sporting infrastructure.
The club’s planned infrastructure project in the Gambia is a key element of the vision of the club over the next few years. The first edition of the Senegambia Cup will take place in 2026 in Saly, Senegal in partnership with the PSG Academy, Ping FC, Medina United, ECA and other partners. The partnership with Thor Akureyi FC and KA Akureyri FC signed in 2025 also presents our young players with the opportunities of being scouted and continuing their footballing journey in Iceland with a view to being exposed to first class football infrastructure in terms of training, coaching and the needed exposure having the opportunity to play in European League.
